Published internationally: How do GPs experience „post-vaccination syndrome“?

The results of the „COVID_ShortForm_GP“ pilot study on the management of suspected post-vaccination cases were published internationally in the specialist journal Vaccine: X published – a strong signal for general practice research in Germany. What makes this special is that this was the first cross-network study as part of the German Research Practice Networks initiative DEGAM-ForNet.

The survey shows that this issue is highly relevant in day-to-day clinical practice: over 90 % of the GPs surveyed stated that they had already treated patients with suspected symptoms following a COVID-19 vaccination. The main symptoms reported were chronic fatigue, neurocognitive impairments, and heart and chest complaints. Furthermore, the data highlight the urgent need among GP practices for structured clinical guidelines to enable them to provide even more targeted support to those affected within primary care.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participating GPs from the nationwide research practice networks and from FoPraNet-BW, who actively supported the successful completion of this study!
